Discover Your Artistic Side at Southgate Villa Retreat

My name is Margie, and I'm the owner of Southgate Villa Retreat.  If you had asked me 16 years ago if I thought I was creative or artistic, the answer would have been "absolutely not!"  I work for a large corporation as a financial analyst; I thought there was no way I could have a creative side.  But I was wrong!

In 2003, just before my son was born, a good friend of mine gave me a scrapbook as a baby shower gift. She was an avid scrapbooker who desperately wanted to teach me how to put photos into a scrapbook instead of throwing them into a shoebox. I was skeptical that I could do anything other than glue a picture onto a page. But you know what? I surprised myself! Not only did I enjoy being creative, after a couple of years, I was actually pretty good!

I love the social aspect of scrapbooking: getting together with friends for a day or a weekend, being creative together, learning from each other, talking and laughing. I have met so many people and made many new friends while crafting. This creative outlet has been a true blessing.

A few years ago, I started thinking about how much fun it would be to own a scrapbooking retreat. But, of course, it was just a dream—until I stumbled upon the perfect place in Plainwell, MI. With the support, help and love of my family and friends, I’m making my dream a reality.

Whether your medium of choice is paper, material, yarn, paint, or something else, I invite you to get together with friends for a weekend of fun-filled crafting.

Whatever craft you enjoy, doing it with friends is much more fun!
